Baidoa, South West State of Somalia — The Watchful Association for Relief and Development (WARD) has successfully distributed life-saving humanitarian assistance to 2,000 vulnerable households affected by the severe drought impacting communities across Somalia.
The distribution took place in Baidoa, where thousands of families continue to struggle with shortages of food, water, and essential supplies. The emergency aid initiative forms part of WARD’s ongoing commitment to supporting drought-affected populations in the South West State.
Speaking during the distribution event, the Head of Relief at WARD, alongside the District Commissioner of Baidoa and other local authorities, emphasized the urgent need for coordinated support to address the worsening humanitarian situation. They highlighted that the assistance aims to ease the immediate suffering of families who have lost livelihoods due to the prolonged drought.
“We are committed to standing with communities during these difficult times,” the WARD Relief Head noted, stressing the organization’s dedication to continuing such interventions as long as the crisis persists.
Local leaders thanked WARD for its continued efforts and called on other humanitarian partners to increase support to the affected population.
The aid distributed included essential food items and vital household supplies designed to improve the well-being of families facing extreme hardship.
WARD continues to work closely with community leaders, government institutions, and humanitarian actors to ensure that relief reaches those most in need across Somalia.
