Mogadishu, Banadir Region: The Watchful Association for Relief and Development (WARD) has successfully implemented a comprehensive Health and Nutrition outreach program across five key districts in the Banadir region: Gubadleey, Wadajir, Deyniile, Boondheere, and Dharkeynley.
The intervention targeted vulnerable families, including low-income households, women, children, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) who fled drought-affected areas in search of safety and basic services in Mogadishu.
During the distribution and service delivery activities, WARD’s Chairman, Mr. Abdirahman Wahid, together with the Head of Health and Nutrition Unit, met with community members and emphasized the organization’s commitment to improving access to essential health and nutrition services.
The event was also attended by the District Commissioners of all five districts, who praised WARD’s continued role in supporting underserved communities in Banadir.
Mr. Waxiid highlighted that the initiative aims to reduce malnutrition, strengthen community health awareness, and ensure that displaced and vulnerable families receive the urgent support they need.
He stated:
“Improving community health is a priority for WARD. We are committed to supporting mothers, children, and vulnerable households who are most affected by displacement and poverty.”
Community members and district leaders expressed their gratitude to WARD for providing timely and much-needed support, noting that the program brought vital health and nutrition services closer to families who often struggle to access them.
This activity forms part of WARD’s broader humanitarian agenda focused on enhancing health, nutrition, and resilience among vulnerable populations across Somalia.
WARD continues to work closely with local authorities, health partners, and community leaders to ensure sustainable and life-changing humanitarian interventions.
